Development of an automated structural design system for progressive dies based on the integrated design methodology of process and structure

The process of designing progressive dies can be complex, tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone, which significantly impact the development period design quality. This paper presents a systematic methodology that includes planning automated die structure. A super model (SPM) is presented as output structure input Subsequently, parametric template based on deformation feature geometry (DFPG) proposed to automate punches dies. Lastly, layout method space for standard parts perform die-sets, punches, dies; additionally, robust calculation introduced. system then implemented in two home appliance enterprises. Case studies industrial applications have demonstrated effectiveness developed system, improve efficiency by minimum 85% reduce error an average 50%.
